Warm greetings from People Awareness and Legal Aid Movement (PALAM).
I am *K. Senthilkumar, Managing Trustee of *People Awareness and Legal Aid
Movement (PALAM), a registered disaster-relief and development NGO (Reg.
No. 03/2006, dated 03.01.2006).
Our organization holds valid 12AA & 80G certifications under the Income Tax
Act, is registered with NITI Aayog, and possesses a **CSR Registration
Number issued by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India.
Background
Tamil Nadu has been experiencing continuous heavy rainfall during the
Northeast Monsoon.
Now, with a new low-pressure system forming into a cyclone, Thiruvarur
District especially the **Thiruthuraipoondi Taluk is facing **persistent
heavy rains and flooding.
This region depends heavily on agriculture, and most agricultural labourers
are unable to go for work, resulting in **complete loss of daily income.
Many families are struggling even to meet **basic food needs.
Floodwaters have surrounded hut settlements, forcing families to seek
shelter in schools, community halls, and temporary structures. They
urgently require:
* Hot meals through community kitchens
* Dry ration & grocery support
* Tarpaulins for temporary shelter
* Emergency relief items
Community Kitchen Requirement
In coordination with local authorities, PALAM has identified the most
affected villages:
Nunakadu, Vishwa Kothamangalam, and Veeran Nagar =E2=80=93 together having =
272
families We plan to operate a *Community Kitchen to provide:
Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner (3 meals/day) for 15 days.
We earnestly request your support in funding the community kitchen or
supplying food materials in-kind.
Emergency Relief Materials Requirement
PALAM has also initiated a Flood Relief Mission in 6 villages covering
2,496 families.
Each family urgently needs the following essential relief kit:
* 2 Tarpaulins (for emergency shelter)
* Rice & Grocery Kit (rice, pulses, oil, salt, and essentials)
* Torchlight with batteries
* New clothes for dignity
Immediate Target: 500 families
As rains are expected to continue throughout December, families may not
return to work soon. Therefore, one-month dry ration kits are essential to
ensure their survival.
Why This Support Is Urgent
* Families in hut settlements cannot stay in their damaged homes.
* Many have taken shelter in public buildings and depend entirely on
donated food.
* Continuous rain + upcoming cyclone may worsen the crisis.
* Agricultural labourers have no income source for the entire month.
* Children, women, and elderly are at high risk without food and shelter
materials.
